Warsaw Zoo – basic information
The Municipal Zoological Garden in Warsaw was founded on 11 March1928. It is located in the very heart of the capital and covers an area of 40 hectares. The collection of the Warsaw Zoo encompasses more than 3,500 animals, not counting nearly 10,000 fish and countless invertebrates, representing over 500 species, including about 40 endangered species covered by the EEP (programme carried out by zoological gardens across Europe). For many years, the Warsaw Zoo has been a member of the WAZA and EAZA – prestigious European and international zoo and aquarium associations. The Garden features more than 10 facilities which make visiting the Zoo comfortable even in autumn and winter. The Warsaw Zoo is open to visitors on every day of the year, always from 9:00 a.m. and waiting for you.
